EXPLAINED (ACCURACY-CHECKED)

The recurrent laryngeal nerve does not travel directly to the larynx: it descends into the thorax and loops back up — under the aortic arch on the left, under the subclavian artery on the right. This detour is the standard evolutionary-developmental explanation, reflecting the descent of the great vessels from the ancestral branchial arch arrangement seen in fish.
